Mount Raung is an active volcano standing on the border of three regencies: Banyuwangi, Bondowoso, and Jember. Its main attraction is the giant dry caldera at its summit—one of the largest in Indonesia—as well as the hiking trail to Sejati Summit, which requires hikers to traverse a narrow ridge with the aid of ropes (via ferrata) above a caldera abyss hundreds of meters deep. Due to the risk involved, the climb to Sejati Summit must be accompanied by a certified local guide and requires the use of safety equipment (harness, rope, carabiners).
Guselan Basecamp is located at an altitude of 559 masl, in Sidomulyo Hamlet, Jambewangi Village, Sempu District, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java. This trail has a religious appeal that other Raung trails do not possess: along the hiking route, 99 boards featuring the Asmaul Husna (names of Allah) are installed, starting from Pintu Rimba (the first board) to Post 9 / Kumang Setiapala (the 99th board). This trail ends at the East Summit of Mount Raung (3,290 masl), not at the Sejati Summit as the Kalibaru/Sumberwringin routes do.

It is not recommended. The segment leading to Sejati Summit requires experience with extreme terrain and the use of basic climbing gear. Beginners should stop at Bendera Summit.
On average, 3–4 days and 3 nights round trip, depending on the trail and the team's pace.
Yes, using a certified local guide is mandatory for the via ferrata segment, whether you are joining an open trip or hiking independently.
The dry season, around April–October, when the trail is drier and the risk of high winds on the caldera ridge is lower.
